"Jianghu" – J'sMan Inter-School Musicians' Alliance Concert

"Jianghu" (World of Martial Arts)
J'sMan Inter-School Musicians' Alliance Wind Orchestra Concert

Wherever there are people, there is the *jianghu*.

What comes to mind when you think of the *jianghu*?

Is it the soaring spirit of Qiao Feng in *Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils*? The blend of chivalry and tenderness between Guo Jing and Huang Rong in *The Legend of the Condor Heroes*? The unforgettable, soul-stirring romance of *The Return of the Condor Heroes*? Or the carefree, unconventional attitude of Linghu Chong in *The Smiling, Proud Wanderer* as he laughs at the world?

Or perhaps it is the patriotic integrity found in *Fist of Legend*, the adrenaline-fueled adventures of *A Step into the Past*, the brotherhood depicted in *A Better Tomorrow*, and the classic melodies that defined the formative years of a generation of Hongkongers?

On October 11, 2026, the J'sMan Inter-School Musicians Alliance Wind Orchestra will proudly present its inaugural themed concert, *Jianghu* (The World of Martial Arts Heroes), at the Tsuen Wan Town Hall Auditorium. Through the ensemble's powerful yet nuanced performance, the audience will be transported back to the golden age of Hong Kong's martial arts and film culture.

The concert is structured around two main chapters—"The True Hero" and "Another Realm of Jianghu"—featuring a curated selection of beloved classics. The program includes familiar melodies such as "Across the Vast Expanse," "Iron-Blooded, Loyal Heart," "Steadfast Love and Loyalty," "A Laughter in the Sea," "Spring Rain and Curved Blade," "Forgetting All Worries," "The Great Wall Never Falls," "Chrysanthemum Terrace," "Supreme Destiny," and "A Better Tomorrow." The finale will feature a specially arranged *Jianghu* medley, weaving together various iconic martial arts theme songs to pay tribute to Hong Kong's martial arts culture and cinematic classics.

J'sMan (Joint Schools Musicians’ Alliance Network Wind Orchestra) was founded by the Joint Schools Music Association of Hong Kong. It brings together music enthusiasts from diverse schools, generations, and professional backgrounds, uniting them through music to sustain their passion for the arts and to build a musical community for Hong Kong musicians.

"Jianghu" (The World of Martial Arts Heroes) is not only J'sMan’s inaugural formal concert but also a shared journey into the collective memories of the people of Hong Kong. Through familiar melodies and the captivating power of live performance, we invite the audience to revisit the classic tales that shaped our upbringing and to experience the spirit of chivalry, the bonds of brotherhood, and the myriad facets of life.

Whether you are a fan of martial arts novels, a supporter of Hong Kong film and television culture, an admirer of wind orchestra music, or simply someone wishing to relive the days of your youth, we cordially invite you to step into this "Jianghu"—a world that belongs to the people of Hong Kong.
