Rules and Guidelines for Music Creation Projects

1. Creative Theme
   The creative theme for the 2027 competition is "Journey."
2. Instrument
   

   2.1	Individual/Group Classical Category
   	2.1.1	Entries may be performed as solos or ensembles.
   	2.1.2	There are no restrictions on the types or number of instruments used in the composition; however, at least two-thirds of the instruments must be Western orchestral instruments or the piano.
   2.2	Individual/Group Pop Category
   	2.2.1	Entries may be performed as solos, ensembles, or vocal pieces.
   	2.2.2	There are no restrictions on the types, groupings, or number of instruments used in the work.
   2.3	Individual/Group Electronic Music Category
   	2.3.1	Entries must be submitted in the form of electronic sound effects or music.
   	2.3.2	There are no restrictions on the sound effects used in the work; submission of a musical score is not required.

3. Submission
   

   3.1	Upon receipt of the notification of participation, contestants must submit their entries by the date specified in the notification.
   3.2	Entrants must submit audio files and scores. (Scores are not required for the Electronic Music category.)
   3.3	Sound effect files must be submitted in MP3 or MIDI format, and the filenames must correspond to the contestant number. Files that cannot be played will not be scored.
   3.4	The format of the musical score is not limited to standard staff notation; participants should submit a score appropriate for their specific competition category.
   3.5	All entry materials must be submitted together with the Music Composition Category submission form. The submission form can be downloaded from "https://www.jsma.org.hk/download".
